One-man Vocal Band

solo vocal live-looping
A showcase of vocal skill, beatboxing, and technical production. Live-looping is when a performer uses a small electronic device to record themselves, live on stage, and play along with what they have recorded.  An amazing visual spectacle (how is that one guy making all that sound?), made more impressive because of Mister Tim's compelling original music and delightful covers.

BIOGRAPHY

A prolific and award-winning singer, composer, arranger, actor, teacher, music director and conductor, Mister Tim has performed around the world with numerous performing acts, was an early viral video star, and is a published composer and arranger. He has performed on the stage of America's Got Talent, was a headline performer in “Toxic Audio” on the Las Vegas Strip, and is an in-demand choral / vocal / a cappella clinician at schools and festivals.

Mister Tim has created more than a dozen award-winning a cappella groups and is known for his innovation in a cappella performance. His groups include 2010 International Harmony Sweepstakes Champions Plumbers of Rome, comedy quartet and internet celebrities moosebutter, a cappella cover band Wonder Voice, indie-rock vocal band THROAT, beatbox quartet Mouth Beats, and the world's first (and only?) a cappella heavy metal band Placental Armageddon.

Mister Tim tours with his solo vocal live-looping show. Singing and beatboxing all the parts of his original indie-art rock music and insightful cover versions of popular music, his music melds traditional vocal music with contemporary performance and technology. He has performed at the One-Man Band Festival in Montreal, The National A Cappella Convention, FocoMX, and at corporate, private, and public events.

Mister Tim was a guest artist in residence at Denver School of the Arts where he coached and arranged music for the DSA Vocal Jazz Ensemble, helping them to a 1st place finish at the 2014 Mile High Vocal Jam scholastic competition. He has taught, workshopped, masterclassed, and coached around the country with groups of all shapes and sizes.

Mister Tim is the music director for Yearround Sound, a Denver-based vocal music performance company. He sings with “Vintage,” a close harmony trio, does solo crooning, conducts a church choir, and music directs and sings with the all-80s a cappella group Rubix.

Mister Tim’s novelty piece “The Pirate Song,” published by Alliance Music Publishing (as Tim Y. Jones), has become a staple for Men’s Choirs and has been performed around the world.

Mister Tim was an early viral video star with videos of his group moosebutter’s “Star Wars (John Williams is the Man)” and his kazoo performance of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman”. His 2013 Album “Smiley Laughy Happy Facey” won the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award for “Best Humor Album” and in 2014 he released a full album of all-original solo a cappella music, “The Funky Introvert.”

Mister Tim was the lead singer for the popular Colorado Celtic rock band “Delilah’s Revenge;” was the drummer, French horn player, and dancer for early-2000s ska band “Skook;” performed the role of “Smudge” in a two-year run of “Forever Plaid” at Hale Center Theater in West Valley City, UT; assistant directed the Golden Buffalo Men’s Choir and sang in the University Singers, College Chorale, and Vocal Jazz Ensemble at the University of Colorado-Boulder; served on the board of directors of The Contemporary A Cappella Society; hosted the A Cappella Originals podcast; and he is a sponsored professional kazoo player.

Mister Tim graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Vocal Performance emphasis, and studied for a Master's Degree in Choral Conducting at the University of Colorado-Boulder.
